Getting Around in Bodrum

Planning a trip to Bodrum? Then you certainly have made the right choice! This place is so fascinating, you surely would want to comeback for more! For a first timer, one of your primary concerns might be getting around the city, less the fuss. Setting your foot for the first time to a land unknown will probably trigger your brains worry center. But no, not in Bodrum, for as easy as 1-2-3, you'll be roaming the city just like you were living here! Depending on where you're from, you can choose transportation from planes to bus to ferries in taking you to your desired destination. There are 5 direct flights from Istanbul and Ankara, as well as connecting flights from other domestic cities around Turkey. A one way flight usually costs around 68YL to 95YTL ($50-$70). If you live near Bodrum, the most popular way to get there is by bus, besides that it is common around Turkey, it's fairly easier on the pockets. However, if you travel between Greece and Turkey getting on a ferry would be the best choice, either for a one way ticket, or a same-day round-trip ticket. Another great thing here is that a stay, under 3 months would not require any visa! But you have to pay 27YTL ($20) entry visa if it's your first time in Turkey.

Now that you've arrived in Bodrum, it would be nice to have a map with you so you won't get lost while traveling around. If you have the money to spend, it would be better to rent a car and self drive. You can usually find a lot of car, motorcycle, and jeep rentals around the peninsula. However, you can always take the city transport if you are on a tight budget. You can find minibuses along Cevat Sakir street. Just signal the bus to stop for you and you can board conveniently. A ride will usually cost you around 1YTL to 3.40YL ($1.20-$2.50). Time to learn street rules. Bodrum is usually made up of narrow one-way streets with queer traffic. Taxis not bothered by traffic lights, honking cars, and queue jumping, it's absolutely normal. Just make sure that you take the necessary precaution to prevent yourself from getting into a fatal road accident.
